The US Department of Agriculture won its bid to dismiss a student-led First Amendment challenge to its rules related to the sale and marketing of dairy milk in schools.
Marielle Williamson’s claims that the National School Lunch Program and a parallel USDA regulation violate students’ free speech rights are moot because she’s since graduated from high school, said Judge Fernando M. Olguin of the US District Court for the Central District of California in a Nov. 30 order.
