COLUMBUS — Midwest Electric, of St. Marys, received a $15 million Electric and Infrastructure Loan to build and improve its electric lines, the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development in Ohio director announced.

The project will connect an additional 403 consumers and improve more than 40 miles of electrical lines.

They serve an average of more than 11,000 connected customers through more than 1,500 miles of lines in Allen, Auglaize, Darke, Mercer, Putnam, Shelby, and Van Wert counties.

It’s part of an investment of $22.4 million in loans and grants to four Ohio recipients intended to improve Ohio’s rural electric, water and solid waste management infrastructure, according to a press release.

USDA Rural Development provides loans, loan guarantees and grants to help fund businesses, communities, and families.
