Every year, Gateway Technical College holds a Women in Manufacturing event. This year, it will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on March 22 at the S.C. Johnson iMET Center, 2320 Renaissance Blvd., Sturtevant.

“The event is a forum designed to introduce women to the number of rich and family-sustaining careers in manufacturing,” a March 11 press release reads.

Women in Manufacturing event open to all

Anyone is welcome to attend this event, but is limited to the first 100 participants to register, according to the event’s website. To pre-register, click here.

Some careers listed that can be explored at the event include computer numeric control operator, advanced manufacturing technician, mechanical technician and electrical service technician.

“In addition,” the press release reads, “this year’s event has expanded to include the construction trades industries such as electrician and carpentry.”

Several opportunities present themselves at this event, from hands-on activities to participating in a scavenger hunt for the chance to win prizes.
