Google caps off I/O 2026 day one with Android 17 QPR1 Beta 3 release

  • Google says this update includes “a minor SDK release.”

Today was a massive one for Google, with the company announcing everything from a new Gemini model to Android XR smart glasses at I/O 2026. While we got most of our pure-Android news earlier this month at The Android Show I/O Edition, Google loves holding a few surprises for the last moment — and today, that spells Android 17 QPR1 Beta 3.
