Home News USDA loans available for farmers affected by March tornadoes

LAKEVIEW — The United States Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency is reminding area farmers affected by the March 14 tornadoes that emergency credit is available through the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The primary counties included in this program include Auglaize, Hancock, Logan and Mercer counties. Additionally, FEMA has declared that producers in contiguous counties are also eligible for emergency loans. These include Allen, Hardin, Putnam and Van Wert counties.

Emergency loan funds can be used to replace needed items for production, such as equipment or livestock, as well as for reorganizing a farming operation or to refinance debts. Loan requests will be reviewed based on the extent of losses, any available security and the applicant’s ability to repay.

The deadline to apply for loans is Jan. 2, 2025. To learn more, go to the USDA website, farmers.gov and search for Disaster Assistance Recovery Tool. Producers can apply for loans at any USDA Service Center. Center locations can also be found at the USDA website.
