CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA (WHTM) — The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently announced that it is investing more than $5.69 million in 31 different renewable energy projects across Pennsylvania; 20 of which are right here in the Midstate.

According to USDA, these energy related projects are being funded by President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act, and as a result of these new projects, it will lower energy costs while creating revenue for rural businesses and farms.

“These projects will lower energy costs, generate new income and create jobs for Pennsylvanian’s farmers, agricultural producers and rural small businesses,” USDA’s State Director for Rural Development, Bob Morgan said.

Though this new funding will help facilitate 31 clean energy projects here in the Keystone State, it is important to note that this recent investment also includes over $120 million in 541 Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) projects in 44 states nationwide.

Of the 31 clean energy projects receiving grants here in Pennsylvania, 20 are for projects right here in the Midstate, totaling grant investments of $3,945,018.
