COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced Thursday they are granting South Carolina over half-a-million dollars in grant funding to clean energy projects in several counties.

Acting State Director for South Carolina USDA Rural Development George Hicks Jr. said $615,644 in grant funding from the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) will be split among four projects.

The projects are as follows:

Oswald Wholesale Lumber, Inc. in Lexington County is receiving $395,232 to install a direct current roof-mount photovoltaic solar array.Windham Family Farms in Darlington County is receiving $56,033 to install a new grain dryer.Rani Partners LLC in Aiken County is receiving $124,413 to install a direct current roof-mount photovoltaic solar array.Bobby Marshall Norris Jr. in Chesterfield County is receiving $39,966 to install a new grain dryer.

REAP is intended to assist rural electric cooperatives and small businesses address climate change impacts while growing the economy. The Biden-Harris administration said the USDA has invested over $2.1 billion through REAP nationwide.
