CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS) — Officials announced Monday more than $38 million in funds from the U.S. Department of Agriculture will go toward rural development projects throughout West Virginia.

The Senate Appropriations Committee approved funding for 14 projects in the Mountain State, including several in the Eyewitness News viewing area:

The White Oak Public Service District has been awarded $1.65 million in the form of loans and grant money to remove a secondary biological treatment bypass from a wastewater treatment plant. Tolliver Enterprises in Wayne County has been issued a $259,000 grant to develop a renewable energy system. Laurel Creek Hardwoods Inc. in Nicholas County will receive a grant totaling nearly $30,000 to purchase and install energy-efficient equipment. Solar Energy Solutions II at Williamstown Elementary School will use a $100,000 loan to purchase an install a 250 kilowatt solar array. Tri-Data Inc. in Cabell County was awarded a $91,305 grant to purchase and install a 77.76 kilowatt solar array. Workingman’s Family Store LLC in Cabell County was awarded a $36,905 grant to purchase and install a 32.81 kilowatt solar array. Banazzo and Suesli Real Estate in Braxton County was awarded a $18,615 grant to purchase and install a 10.95 kilowatt solar array.
