ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) – On Thursday, U.S. Agriculture Deputy Secretary Xochitl Torres Small will travel to Orangeburg.
There, she will visit South Carolina State University as she continues her multi-week college tour throughout the U.S.
She will tour S.C. State’s 1890 research and demonstration farm and see first-hand how the university is working with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to advance climate-smart practices and sustainability.
She will also highlight the ways USDA is making a difference on the campus through investments in cutting-edge agricultural research, agriculture and food science programs and scholarship opportunities, according to federal officials.
Officials said the tour is highlighting how the Biden-Harris administration is creating new career opportunities for the next generation of farmers, foresters, researchers and entrepreneurs.
