GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The federal government has awarded more than $32 million in loans and grants to six rural communities in Michigan for infrastructure improvement projects.

On Wednesday, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced $32,789,000 for water and sewer improvement projects to the six Michigan communities. These projects received funding through the USDA’s Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant Program.

Lowell in Kent County will receive a $3.91 million loan to replace wastewater collection mains. Albion in Calhoun County will use a $1.14 million loan to update its wastewater treatment system.

In St. Joseph County, White Pigeon received a $11.76 million loan, Mendon got a $11.76 million loan and Constantine got a $6.6 million loan and $500,000 grant.

Antrim County’s Ellsworth will use a $2 million loan and $5.5 million grant to build a wastewater collection and treatment system.
