The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has recalled 4 products in January, and issued 1 public health alert, which is a decrease from February.
Out of the 4 recalls, 1 was due to misbranding/undeclared allergen, 1 for possible Listeria, and 2 for possible foreign matter contamination.
The public health alert was issued due to ineligible imported products.
Recalls
Misbranding / Unreported Allergens
Taylor Farms Pacific, Tracy, CA, recalled approximately 19,976 lb of ready-to-eat apple walnut with chicken salad bowl products due to misbranding and undeclared wheat allergen. This affects products: 5.5-oz clear plastic bowl containers with “Kroger Apple Walnut with Chicken Salad Kit for One,” use by dates 3/12/24 through 3/22/24 and lot codes TFPM059B41, TFPM060B41, TFPM061A41, TFPM062A41, TFPM063B41, TFPM064A41, TFPM064B41, TFPM065A41, TFPM066A41, TFPM067A41, TFPM068A41, TFPM069B42, and TFPM071A41. The product was shipped to retail locations in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
Possible Listeria Contamination
Jen’s Breakfast Burritos, Auburn, WA, recalled approximately 144 lb of ready-to-eat breakfast burrito products that may be adulterated with Listeria monocytogenes. The products affected are: 7-oz. individual wax paper packages containing “Smoked Bacon Breakfast Burrito,” lot code 060-1; 7-oz. individual wax paper packages containing “Ham Breakfast Burrito,” lot code 060-2; and 7-oz. individual wax paper packages containing “Seasoned Pork Breakfast Burrito,” lot code 060-3. The products were shipped to “to-go” kiosk locations in Washington.
Possible Foreign Matter Inclusion
CJ Foods Manufacturing Beaumont Corp., Beaumont, CA, recalled approximately 61,839 lb of steamed chicken soup dumpling products that may be contaminated with foreign materials, specifically hard plastic from a permanent marker pen. Impacted products include: 6-oz. boxes with plastic trays containing 6 pieces of “Trader Joe’s Steamed Chicken Soup Dumplings,” lot codes 03.07.25.C1-1 and 03.07.25.C1-2. These products were shipped to Trader Joe’s retailers nationwide.
Salm Partners, Denmark, WI, recalled approximately 35,430 lb of Johnsonville turkey kielbasa sausage that may be contaminated with foreign materials, specifically pieces of rubber. Impacted products include: 12-oz. vacuum-packed packages with a single piece of “Johnsonville Polish Kielbasa Turkey” sausage and best by dates of 5/17/24 and 5/18/24.
Public Health Alert
An alert was issued for frozen Siluriformes products that were illegally imported from the People’s Republic of China and are ineligible for entry into the US. The products were not certified for export to the US by the government of China as being produced under equivalent inspection, they do not identify a certified establishment number on their packaging, and they were not presented to FSIS for import reinspection as required. Impacted products are: 12-oz. (340 g) plastic packages containing “Frozen Striped Pangasius Maws.” The products do not have any producing establishment information or import marks on the labels and are packed in plain white shipping cartons without labels or markings. These items are believed to have been shipped to retail and wholesale locations in NY, OK, and PA.
