FRAKENMUTH, Mich. (WJRT) – The U.S. Department of Agriculture led a discussion on Thursday in Frankenmuth with Michigan’s Department of Agriculture on USDA programs and resources that benefit the state’s sector.
The Undersecretary for Trade and Agricultural Affairs, Alexis Taylor, spoke at Thursday’s event and at Michigan State University’s Saginaw Valley Research and Extension Center.Â
She spoke on how the programs are creating more of an economic opportunity.Â
“Michigan currently exports about $4 billion of food and agricultural products,” said Taylor. “More export opportunities means more income coming into those farmers.”
Taylor adds that these programs can also help farmers expand their businesses and can make investments in their own operations.
