(CNN)– Meat from a diary cow that tested positive for H5N1 Bird Flu virus did not enter the food supply.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture said viral particles of H5N1 were discovered during a standard part of the inspection process.

Officials contacted the owners of the cow in question and a probe into the herd where the Bovine came from is underway.

Samples from dozens of other cows that were condemned for illness tested negative.

The USDA advises people to make sure your meat is properly cooked.
